Top Five Things To Look For When Choosing A Medicare Plan

Choosing the Right Medicare Plan for You

Every fall, people with Medicare have full mailboxes. It’s not always political mailers or notes from family and friends, it’s usually materials from health insurance companies.

That’s because the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period kicks off on October 15. Everyone eligible for Medicare has from October 15 until December 7 to continue with their current coverage or change to a new plan. It can be overwhelming to search for the Medicare Advantage plan that best fits your needs.

We put together these five tips to help you.

Review your plan changes carefully

In late September you should have received your 2019 plan materials. It’s important to review these changes carefully, what worked for you last year, may not be a good fit this year.

Look at your plan’s out-of-pocket maximum

Most people know to look at the monthly premium, but don’t realize how important the out-of-pocket maximum is. Every year this amount can change. And, just because your plan has a low or $0 premium, doesn’t guarantee you’re getting the best deal. The out-of-pocket maximum lets you know how much you could spend each plan year. It’s the worst-case scenario. To review and compare Network Health Medicare Advantage plans, click here.

Check your prescriptions

Some plans do not include prescription drug coverage. If you need medications, make sure your plan includes this coverage (also called Part D). It’s also a good idea to look at the deductible. Find out what doctors you can see

In addition, Network Health is co-owned by two high-quality health systems, Froedtert Health and Ministry Health Care, part of Ascension Wisconsin, helping to ensure that our members have access to excellent health care close to home. Consider the type of customer support you’ll get

Most companies claim to have great customer service, there is more to think about. When you call, do you get a real person? Are you able to talk to someone face-to-face to get your questions answered? With a Network Health Medicare Advantage Plan, you can. We look forward to meeting you.
