An organization’s success is a direct result of the performance and engagement of its employees. From the front desk receptionist to the CEO, all employees are a reflection of the company, both while at work and while in the community.
Network Health understands the importance of investing in our associates. We truly believe our employees are our greatest asset. With the help of Gallup’s StrengthsFinder model, we’ve empowered our teams to maximize their inherent strengths for personal and professional growth.
All Network Health associates have the opportunity to complete a StrengthsFinder assessment which identifies their top five strengths. Associates then attend a special session with all members of their specific department. The session is led by a trained instructor who helps associates better understand how to leverage their natural talents to be more effective both as an individual and as part of their team.
Network Health’s Vice President of Administrative Services Jessica Vander Zanden introduced the StrengthsFinder program to the organization in 2016. Vander Zanden believed the program would not only enhance efficiency and productivity across the company, she also believed it would help boost associate satisfaction and engagement. As a Gallup Certified Strengths coach, Vander Zanden has observed first-hand how the program benefits those who participate.
Vander Zanden explains “We are providing opportunities for our associates to focus on what they do best. By emphasizing strengths over weaknesses, employees feel empowered and as a result, they more actively engage in their work and with their teams.”
Gallup reports that employees who receive strength-based development realize a 23 percent increase in their engagement. They have spent more than 50 years developing and refining their research on the science of strengths and have found that managers who focus on employees’ strengths reduce active disengagement to only one percent. The organizational benefits of StrengthsFinder are striking. And, there are many benefits to individuals as well.
By completing a StrengthsFinder assessment and follow-up training, Network Health associates gain increased self-awareness. And, once individuals learn their top strengths, they can also understand what drives and fulfills them. Today, the average American worker spends more waking hours at the office than they do at home. It is essential to a person’s well-being to find satisfaction in the type of work they perform. By using the StrengthsFinder model, Network Health associates are aligning their work with their strengths, ultimately making their work more meaningful.
