As winter approaches and the amount of daylight decreases, it’s important to stay physically active. Per the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), physical activity helps you feel better and function better by improving sleep and decreases anxiety and the risk of depression.
Staying physically active also reduces blood pressure, improves balance and coordination, and reduces your risk of falling.
Beyond feeling better every day, however, physical activity can also lower cancer risk such as bladder, breast, colon and lung cancers as well as reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, and Type 2 diabetes.
So if you’re looking for ways to stay active while indoors during the cold winter months, don’t have a gym membership or are just trying to stay fit without going out in the middle of a pandemic, we’ve got you covered. All you need is yourself, comfortable clothes, and items around your home.
Check out these 10 exercise ideas that also show how to perform the exercises correctly.
If you don’t have dumbbells, feel free to replace them with home goods such as canned goods, a book or a gallon of water.
