Solving the Diaper Need Around the World

Jake’s Diapers Inc., located in Kaukauna, is a nonprofit diaper bank whose mission is to provide cloth diapers to babies, children and adults in extreme poverty, whose caregivers must choose between food and diapers. Since 2013, they have impacted lives in over 20 countries by supplying tens of thousands of cloth diapers.

Jake’s Diapers works alongside other diaper banks to address chronic needs and emergency situations. A year ago, they began a coordinated relief effort to bring diapers to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria. Since the hurricane struck in September 2017, Jake’s Diapers has provided cloth diaper packs to more than 1,000 people – totaling more than 12,239 diapers.

Recently, three Network Health employees spent the day volunteering at Jake’s Diapers. They had the opportunity to learn about this important cause as they stacked and counted diapers.

“I wasn’t aware of this program and the usage of cloth diapers in assisting families so they have money to spend on other vital needs like their medical needs,” said Network Health Condition Management Health Coach Jan Cobia.

“Jake’s Diapers is reaching the basic need of diapering a baby for those who have financial shortcomings all over the world,” said Network Health Condition Management Coordinator Sally Bowman. “No one should have to choose between diapers and food.”
